ABOUT

About Azudi

Azudi Onyejekwe is an artist, educator, and changemaker committed to amplifying marginalized voices and reshaping how we experience theatre.

Born in New York City as the youngest of six, his Igbo heritage and upbringing deeply influenced his artistry and leadership. After earning a BFA with honors from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he double-majored in Theatre and Africana Studies, he embarked on a career that spans acting on Broadway (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, Violet), teaching (currently at LIU-Brooklyn, previously at NYU Tisch, Molloy University), directing, music making, writing, and entrepreneurship.

Azudi's former students and current clients have been seen on and off-Broadway, on TV, and in Film.

At the heart of his philosophy is the belief that the arts have the power to validate subjectivity and connect, allowing us to see ourselves and our world with authenticity, nuance, and boldness. This philosophy drives his entrepreneurial work as the Founder of The Liminal Theatre Collective, where theatre is reimagined through mentorship, education, and immersive, community-driven storytelling, and The Ivy Initiative, which provides fully subsidized, world-class performance training and mentorship to empower young artists from underrepresented communities.

Currently, Azudi is pursuing his Master’s in Education Entrepreneurship at UPenn, equipping himself to further innovate at the intersection of theatre and education. Whether developing new works or guiding young artists toward their dreams, his mission remains clear: to create spaces where stories inspire transformation and dismantle barriers to self-expression.
